Back Back Back

Yep, back to work. Looks like I was still sleeping couple of days ago. Got refreshing artwork for you, anyway :)

Greetings!

"Rudolf is ready for the newspaper."

Good day folks! Can't believe I'm already in Muscat again. Need to change my perspective for the other year ahead. I prepared a quick illustration below, I bet you're gonna enjoy the cold in this still-hot-wicked-summer here!

Actually I'm preparing another illustration as well. Might take sometime to finish it but I will share it with you once it's finished.

Cheers!

Old Stuff

I had some (old) good collection of books at home and after digging for awhile, I finally found this book. One of my favorite. Bought it in Kinokuniya. Let me read the introduction of the book for you: Illustration-start-up-guide color marker.

I used to be a Japan-freak from manga, anime, music, and even their  dramas and movies. I loved them all! This book more or less is about how to use Copic marker. A common toy for manga-ka (comic artist) to color their artwork. I have some Copics with me, even though I never really used them, basically I bought them just for collection! Now I didn't find any Copics sold here anymore, or maybe I just missed them.

They have very friendly explanation, plus with very cute humor. I really like their super simple style of comic below, it's so Japanese. Too bad they don't use furigana (small easy characters on a kanji letter) on their kanji characters. I'm having difficulty reading it. Sorry the comic is cut! My scanner is too small to scan the whole page perfectly :(

I'm sure this is a very good book to explain Copic from A to Z. It's super detailed, all Copic newbies need to know.

Also, there are some very good artwork which until now I still really admire.

Japanese characters make their own taste of layout. Pretty characters, pretty layout. Very minimal. I love it too much. This sketch below belonged to my favorite manga-ka, Minekura Kazuya. She created Gensoumaden Saiyuki, a manga title adapted from a famed Chinese classic literature, Journey to The West. I don't think the manga was published here but I'm sure I watched the whole episodes of it (it's common to create anime version of a manga if the manga grabs a lot of readers and fans)!

I hope you enjoy it, see you on next post!
